With the cooperation of the Tuzla International Portrait Gallery, an exhibition of works by Ismet Mujezinović was opened at the art pavilion Juraj Šporer. The exhibition was open from September 23rd until October 20th of 2008.
Ismet Mujezinović (1907-1984) was one of the greatest artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He made a significant impact on 20th century visual art, not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also much wider. 55 drawings and portraits were shown at the exhibition. These drawings were created on the streets of Zagreb, Paris, Vienna, Venice and his native Bosnia in the period from 1919 until 1974 and they are a testament to the mastery and ease with which Mujezinović created his art.
His sensibility for „details larger than the whole“, fine characterization of (un)intentional models, cutting social commentary and a healthy dose of humor can all be found in the lines of the deceivingly simple works by this artist.
Speeches were held at the opening ceremony by Ćazim Sarajlić, the director of the Tuzla International Portrait Gallery, and Mirjana Kos Nalis, the director of the Croatian Museum of Tourism. The exhibition was opened by Amir Muzur, the mayor of Opatija.
