The exhibition of works by Eda Mihovilić, Collage – A Slice of Reality, organized by the Croatian Museum of Tourism, was opened at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28th of 2011 at the Juraj Šporer Art Pavilion in Opatija.
Eda Mihovilić, originally from Lovran, was born in Volosko in 1950. She attended elementary and high school in Opatija. She studied at art department of the Teaching Academy in Rijeka. She spent her career working as a decorator and window-dresser in Opatija. She lives and works in Poljane (Ičići). Since 2005, she has actively pursued painting, participated in numerous art events and received several awards.
Eda Mihovilić enjoys the coastal environment, the mystic views of Terra incognita, urban agglomerations, but also natural elements. She loves rocks and clouds, earth and sky, the dew and dawn, the olive and the cherry tree. She loves swaying palm leaves and billowing sails.
She has produced several series of works: boats, regattas, palms, seaside promenade, Kastav, Lovran, Grožnjan, still life, dolls. She creates her works with ease, in the collage technique. After an education in art, Eda Mihovilić has worked in decoration for quite some time.
Her successful decorations, always new, fresh and imaginative, bear witness to her craft and talent. Any object can become art in the hands of an inspired expert. Eda Mihovilić intuitively follows her inspiration and artistic expression which has been fully liberated and allowed to shine in the pure painting.
The exhibition will remain open until May 18th of 2011.
