The guest exhibition from the Zagreb City Museum, The Art of Hairstyling in the Hair Salon Kincl, will be opened the art pavilion Juraj Šporer on Tuesday, March 30th of 2010.
The hair salon Kincl at Praška Street, number 8, is one of the rare hair salons with a 70-year-long tradition. The tradition and craft of the Kincl hair salon are a part of the urban culture and identity of Zagreb. The exhibition presents the history of the salon from its opening (1935) until today and illustrates the development of hair salons in Zagreb, as well as the fashion which followed hairstyling in our culture.
Exhibits include a number of photographs of hairstyles by the Kincl family, as well as photos of hairstyling competitions they participated in. Visitors will also be able to see a valuable collection of old hairstyling implements: a golden signboard that would hang above every salon door, old scissors, an old hairdryer and awards and certificates receive by members of the Kincl family.
The exhibition also mentions clients that made up a part of the history of this salon. Some of the well known names are: Irena Uhl, Mira Hoffmann, Iby Goldner, Neda and Blanka Omčikus, Rajna Opačić, Jasna Mihaljinec, Vlasta Bulajić, Branka Habek and others.
The exhibition was conceptualized by Maja Alilović, who made the selection of items for the exhibition, together with Vesna Kincl-Murtić.
The exhibition will be open until April 18th of 2010.
