An exhibition of paintings and sculptural paintings by Neva Pizzul was opened at the Art Pavilion Juraj Šporer on Thursday, March 4th of 2010, at 7:30 p.m.
Neva Pizzul was born in Rijeka in 1950 and now lives and works in Opatija. She works in oil, acrylic, and combined techniques on canvas and paints murals. She is still investigating, experimenting, and sampling different combinations of elements and materials. In this manner, she created her abstract, evocative sculptures in modern materials (forex, plexiglas and stainless steel). She has participated in artist colonies, workshops and group exhibitions in Croatia, Italy, Germany, Slovenia and Poland. She also had a number of independent exhibitions. She has received a number of awards, both domestically and abroad. She is a member of the Society of Visual Artists in Rijeka, the Italian Community of Rijeka art section and the international art association SYRLIN, base in Stuttgart.
The paintings and spatial paintings by Neva Pizzul are right at home in this ambiance. Their monumental dimensions fill the space and they collate into a unique work of art (gesamtkunstwerk). She links her paintings into polyptychs, and the ever-changing exciting shapes flow from frame to frame. She weaves the weft of her paintings in broad strokes, energetic gestures and abstract stratification. The strokes are sometimes swift, the lines jagged or zigzagging as they race from one end of the painting to the other, changing pace. Color and brushstrokes in these works are not merely a vehicle of inspiration, but also of deeper meaning. author dreams up luxuriant, undulating landscapes in her unique world. These paintings are not science experiments, mere calculated rows; rather, they are an inspiration which conceives a new, exotic, floating world of landscapes. The exhibition will remain open until March 24th of 2010.
