Parishes of St. Jacob in the Rijeka Diocese

The exhibition was open on the occasion of the Day of the City of Opatija which is celebrated on St. Jacob’s Day on July 25th.

The exhibition includes all the parishes of the Rijeka diocese named after St. Jacob. The exhibition contained, among other things, texts about the life of St. Jacob which were collected, translated and prepared by Jan Bernd Urban. The opening was enhanced with the photographs of the crown of St. Stephen, the most important Hungarian relic, and the icon of St. Jacob which is located on the crown. An interesting fact regarding these photographs is that it is necessary to have a concession to photograph the crown and this concession is owned by a man from Balatonfuereda, friend city of Opatija. The representatives of this Hungarian town made possible for the photographs of the crown and icon to arrive to the opening and remain in the holdings of the Croatian Museum of Tourism.

The anthology Sacral Anniversaries of Opatija was also presented at the Villa Angiolina. It contains texts on the great jubilees of Opatija: 500 years since the restoration of the church of St. Jacob, 100 years since the construction of the Church of the Annunciation and 80 years since the foundation of the Opatija parish.
