The exhibition Vilim Svečnjak: Bol landscapes 1969 – 1985 was open from May 5th until May 31st of 2008 at the art pavilion Juraj Šporer. The exhibition presented a series of paintings by Vilim Svečnjak with the theme of Bol on the island of Brač. Around twenty oil paintings were shown. The works were selected by art historian Branka Arh and the exhibition was authored by Branka Arh and Mirjana Kos Nalis, director of the Croatian Museum of Tourism.
Vilim Svečnjak has dedicated a large part of his opus, as well as his most subtle and honest artistic thoughts to landscapes. Landscapes of Bol in particular have awoken in him that internal energy which results in magical worlds and endless possibilities for interpretation. Svečnjak spent a large portion of his time in the period (1969 to 1985) in Bol. Bol landscapes enraptured him as the ones of Provence did Cezanne. In them, he found the ideal from to express his feeling for color, his complex and sensitive artistic personality and true artistic temperament.
