Croatian Museum of Tourism presents: “ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS AN EMPEROR“ 25/01 - 10/04/2019 The exhibition, in the Art Pavilion "Juraj Šporer", will be open on January 25th at 5 PM and will last until April 10th.

A new and exciting project of the Croatian Museum of Tourism is right in front of us. The exhibition “Once upon a time there was a emperor” is part of the most famous museum national event “Museum Night 2019” at which we will for the first time present the many eminent imperial personalities and members of their families who have visited and resided in Opatija. Impressive names of emperors, kings, princes, counts, princesses and many other members of the most distinguished imperial and royal courts from Europe and around the world certainly form a part of the rich and distinctive history of the city of Opatija. They assuredly represent the diamond stamp of time and a confirmation of the exciting history of this city.
Opatija was visited by the Austrian Empress and the Hungarian-Croatian Queen Sissi and her husband Emperor Francis Joseph I, daughter of the French King, Greek King, grandson of the Russian Emperor, Japanese Princess and brother of the German Empress. Each of them participated in the development of the city at a time without the internet and email. Very quickly, thanks to the prominent names of European and world royal courts, Opatija became a tourist imperative.

The exhibition will open in the Art Pavilion “Juraj Šporer” on January 25 at 5 pm and will last until April 10.

The ticket price for Villa Angiolina and UP “Juraj Šporer” is 20.00 kn (joint ticket).

During the event “Museum Night 2019” for all visitors the entrance is free in both facilities managed by the Croatian Museum of Tourism.

We are expecting you at the Croatian Museum of Tourism and we hope that you will enjoy the company of the Japanese princess, the Greek king, the Romanian empress and the German heir to the throne!
