Last night, a lecture was held at the Croatian Museum of Tourism about the historic Pazin Decisions made by the District National Liberation Committee (NOO) on September 13, 1943, which annexed Istria, Rijeka, Zadar, and the islands to the motherland. In honor of the anniversary of the Pazin Decisions, the lecture was given by Milan Antolović, president of the UABA Pazin.
The District NOO for Istria, as the bearer of the new government, published a political manifesto with the decision to “join the motherland and proclaim unification with the rest of our Croatian brothers.” In the proclamation titled “People of Istria,” it is stated that Istria was liberated by its own weapons and the mass voluntary joining of partisan units, as well as by the will of the people. The proclamation declares that “Istria is Croatian land and will remain Croatian,” marking the end of fascist and Italian rule in the region, the change of systems, and the beginning of the legal operation of the new executive people’s authority (national liberation committees).
