Croatian Museum of Tourism is currently hosting a guest exhibition from the Zagreb City Museum titled “We Are the New Life / The Oldest Theatre for the Blind and Visually Impaired Artists in the World.”
The drama studio for the blind and visually impaired, “New Life,” is a true Croatian brand! For decades, they have captivated domestic audiences, and by traveling the world with their exceptional talent and successful performances, they represent Croatia.
In the language of museums, the exhibition tells the story of this remarkable and long-lasting, yet youthful and creative theatre, where blind and visually impaired individuals perform.
As part of the exhibition, on September 15, 2024, at 11 AM, the “New Life” drama studio will perform “The Ugly Duckling” at the Gervais Centre in Opatija. The performance is a gift to the young citizens of Opatija for the start of the school year, as well as for those who are not yet in school, and even for those who completed their education long ago.
We are constantly faced with an increase in peer violence among young people. Unfortunately, it is always directed at someone who is different from the aggressor in some way. Whether it’s someone with a disability, reduced mental capacity, skin color, religious affiliation, or simply someone who doesn’t want to be part of or stand out in violent groups. In a society that progresses so slowly in terms of inclusion, every effort towards equality, accessibility, and inclusivity must be continuously emphasized.
