🎨 The exhibition Blue Gazes is now open – visit us at Villa Angiolina!
We extend our sincere thanks to the large audience for their incredible turnout and support at the opening! 💙
As part of the new NMMU on the Road series, the Croatian Museum of Tourism, in collaboration with the National Museum of Modern Art, presents the exhibition Blue Gazes: Seascapes in Croatian Visual Art from Plein Air Painting to Abstraction.
The exhibition brings together masterpieces by some of the most prominent Croatian artists from the late 19th century to the present – ranging from realistic and plein air depictions of the sea to abstract interpretations of the landscape. The colour blue, as a symbol of the sea and spiritual depth, runs through the works of artists such as:
Vlaho Bukovac, Menci Clement Crnčić, Emanuel Vidović, Ignjat Job, Ljubo Babić, Edo Murtić, Ivo Dulčić, Frano Baće, Dalibor Parać, Marta Ehrlich, Zlatan Vrkljan and many others.
💬 We also announce the exhibition’s accompanying program:
📍 September 5 at 7 PM – Lecture by Dr. Snježana Pintarić:
“The Adriatic Coast in the Works of Croatian Modernists”
A talk on painted interpretations of Adriatic landscapes and their importance within the context of Croatian visual heritage.
💙 We are grateful to all visitors who have already shown their support by attending the opening! Below is a photo gallery from the event 📸
