Comic Art & Art Nouveau Premiere in Opatija

In the beautiful setting of Villa Angiolina, we have opened the exhibition “Comic Art & Art Nouveau,” organized in collaboration with the Belgian Comic Comic Art Museum and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Croatia. The exhibition explores the fascinating connection between Belgian comics – the ninth art – and Art Nouveau, a style whose roots lie in Belgium.

Twenty-five panels present the works of renowned artists such as François Schuiten, Agnès Maupré, Jean-Luc Cornette, Winsor McCay, and many others, revealing the dynamic dialogue between the aesthetics of Art Nouveau and the comic art form.

We were honored by the presence of H.E. William De Baets, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Croatia, accompanied by Honorary Consul Ivan Kovačić. The evening unfolded in true Belgian spirit – with beer, chocolate pralines, and irresistible waffles. A heartfelt thank you to all the visitors who shared this special moment with us!

📅 The exhibition remains open until September 17, 2025.
