Last weekend, from February 1st to 3rd, 2025, a floral art workshop was held at the Croatian Museum of Tourism in Villa Angiolina. The workshop was led by Vincenzo Antonuccio, Giuseppe Contartese, and assistant Christina Cianci Žerić. 🌿✨
The workshop leader, Vincenzo Antonuccio, is one of the top eight floral designers in the world, the founder of a prestigious floral art school, and well-known in Opatija for his participation in FLORAL WEEK Opatija. 🌺🎨
Giuseppe Contartese is an international floral designer and mentor at Laboratorio Idee, while Christina Cianci Žerić is an international floral designer and the Croatian representative for the same school.
Special guests at the workshop were students from the Construction School, floral design program, along with their teachers. 🌿📚
The Croatian Museum of Tourism co-organized this workshop because we believe that museums, in addition to preserving heritage, have the opportunity and responsibility to support craftsmen and designers as key bearers of material and intangible cultural heritage.
🌿 Why is this workshop important for Opatija and the Croatian Museum of Tourism? 🌿
✔ Preserving local floral traditions – Opatija has a rich history of horticulture and ornamental plants.
✔ Improving the quality of the floral craft – participants learned modern techniques and creative approaches.
✔ Connecting culture and craftsmanship – floristry is not just a job, but also an art.
✔ Attracting visitors to the museum – workshops like this bring together florists, designers, and flower lovers.
✔ Sustainability and ecology – promoting the use of local plants, seasonal flowers, and eco-friendly arranging techniques.
This program could become a recognized cultural and craft event in Opatija, with regular exhibitions of floral arrangements inspired by the city’s history and architecture. 🌍💐
A big thank you to all participants and guests – we look forward to future meetings and new floral stories! 🌸😊
